Harry Potter Book Discussion Group June 28th
Come to the first meeting of our HP Book Group!

The plan as it stands: meeting Wed night at James' place, around 5-6 or as soon as you can get there. We're likely going to get pizza or some kind of take-out. Read up to and through Book 1 Ch 8, The Snapey Chapter (er, The Potions Master). Bring your comments and questions. More details and directions to be found at www.expectopatronvm.com . Hope to see you there!

Upcoming Events
Very exciting couple of weeks coming up! This Friday we have both the HARRY AND THE POTTERS show happening at the Cambridge Public Library, 6PM, followed by the MIDNIGHT SERENITY SHOWING in Coolidge Corner! I plan to meet with James in the afternoon, take the red line into Cambridge for the show, and then park one of our cars at CCorner so that we can have a ride home at 3AM when the show gets out. We'll definitely do a late dinner in between, so plan on that, too!

Then next week we have the HARRY POTTER BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP, Wed Jun 28th, at James' in Brookline, around 6PM. We can do pizza or what have you, and we're going to be discussing Book 1, up to where Snape is introduced. Also I will be distributing Phoenix Rising info (I'll probably bring some to Harry and the Potters as well) and answering any questions you might have about PhR, as I'm their new Street Team Leader (feels good to be back in those shoes!)

After that we have the MIDNIGHT OPENING OF PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!! We're doing this one in PEABODY at the LIBERTY TREE MALL. We'll let you know when tickets go on sale. And we're all dressing as pirates! BTW I've noticed my little town of Rockport has tons of pirate stuff in the downtown area! So feel free to visit if you'd like to pick some up for the show!

That same weekend is CONNECTICON, so anyone wanting to come down to CT with Jessica and I for an awesome sci-fi/fantasy con, you're welcome!

LUMOS isn't too far away at the end of July, and Ginny and I are going! So I'd say June and July definitely qualify as Months of High Fandom! ^_^

See you at these exciting events!

upcoming events
This week is the premiere of DaVinci Code, Friday at 7:30, Boston Common. Tickets are available now at fandango; I'd recommend getting them early rather than waiting for that evening. We'll be meeting around 6 in the lobby, and we'll get food afterwards at the SS Diner, likely. Let me know if you want a ride there and back again... (sorry, couldn't resist).

Sunday May 21 will be Harry and the Potters at the Middle East. We can meet up in line outside... I believe this is a 5PM show, so I'll likely be there at 3:30 or 4. Might be good to see about tickets ahead of time on ticketron, because these shows sometimes sell out, particularly as H&TPs haven't been here in a while.

Next week will be X-Men, May 26th. The plan right now is still Friday night around 7PM, Boston Common. It might be a good idea to be in line earlier for that one, like say 5PM. We'll see how it goes. I know Jessica is still planning to be at the midnight at the Liberty Tree in Danvers, so if anyone wants to go there as well, feel free. Also, I'm going to be at Anime Boston on Saturday, so anyone who wants to meet up there, let me know.

And a new and exciting upcoming event: there will be a midnight showing of Serenity at Coolidge Corner June 23rd. Tickets on sale now at http://www.coolidge.org/ . This is super exciting because I didn't know we had a New England Browncoats chapter, much less that they were having a viewing of Serenity in Boston. So I'm all about it.

Hope you are all staying dry and not washed out to sea somewhere... ^_^

Deep Sea take two? V?
I cross posted this on expecto and here as well: I was looking at the IMAX schedule, and really, these two movies run only sporadically for the rest of the month. The best time for us to see them would be some time this coming week. How is Mon, Tues or Wed for people?

Deep Sea IMAX
So... who wants to go see that IMAX deep sea movie tomorrow night? (Wed) Ginny might come cuz she doesn't have to work... we could get dinner too. The latest showing is 445, so we could prolly do dinner after. Also, V for Vendetta is now at the IMAX as well, and I'm all for seeing that again...

HP Book Club
Bonjour! I just wanted to throw this back out, it came up as an idea from I have no clue who at the meeting at BandN after Book 6. It would be awesome I think to try and get a chapter by chapter book club going to keep us up until book 6. I know its hard for a lot of people to get together often so here's my random plan put together on the fly as I thought.

first off we do chapter by chapter (or a couple at a time) for a week or so each and do that on expecto or here where we can post our comments and talk back and forth.

Then we try and meet up in person maybe once a month or once a book or something like that to talk about everything since the last meeting (or anything else that comes up) and we can do that meeting at a bookstore/restaurant/ anything.

Anyone interested?

I wanted to make a quick post to announce that we had a fabulous time at The Elephant Walk the other week, and also to welcome Jessica, who has joined the group! Thanks for checking in over here at LJ, too! BTW, are you interested in going to Anime Boston at all? Not sure if you do anime cosplay too, but I NEED A COSTUME and I'm totally flat out of ideas... You are super lucky in that you look great in everything... I have no idea what to do. Every female anime character is like a 12 year old girl with breast implants! Too bad I can't figure out how to turn myself into a giant robot... (then maybe Jeff would fall in love with me, eh, James?) ^_^

Hello! Just started this LJ to go along with expectopatronvm (why not?) I will likely cross-post information here that I also post on expecto, and vice versa, but I know some of you are on LJ more often than on the board so... there you go. Also, we may get some more people this way.

Our latest expectopatronvm adventure was Harry and the Potters at the Middle East last night! It was totally fun - they just keep getting better and better. They had a new song about Dumbledore that totally broke my heart! I asked them when they were putting out a new album, and they said it's slated for May. And they're thinking of having a CD release party! So we'll keep you posted on that! ^_^
